December 19, 2018 by Sara Leave a Comment

Of all the recipes I make at Thanksgiving and Christmas, this is the one that has stayed constant. I have been cooking for the holidays for about 15 years now. I started a few years before getting married, and have continued to cook for one or both of the Holidays every year. This is the one…

July 3, 2016 by Sara Leave a Comment

What’s more American than Watermelon? Ok ok, hotdogs, baseball, etc. But, this healthy salad feels decadent and gourmet, but it simple and delicious. And to me, watermelon just feels like summer, especially July 4th. If you’re looking for an easy potluck salad that isn’t boring for your holiday activities – this is a winner….

Warm Brussel Sprout & Cranberry Slaw

November 25, 2014 by Sara 2 Comments

Photo by Sera Petras This week I volunteered at a local soup kitchen. My family and I have been looking for volunteer opportunities that we can all do together for a while. We were lucky to come across this opportunity. It’s such an interesting place, a soup kitchen. It’s a hodge podge of different people,…

Sausage Skillet Cornbread

November 21, 2014 by Jessica 2 Comments

I got a new camera lens this week. It is nothing expensive or fancy, but I am still pretty excited. It’s a Cannon EF 50mm f/1.8II. I have been taking pictures of everything…Robocop, my dog, the cool tree outside, the glass of water on the counter, my foot…you know, really anything I can point…

Homemade Refried Beans

May 3, 2014 by Jessica 2 Comments

In honor of Cinco de May I thought I would share my favorite refried beans recipe. To say I have an addiction to this stuff is an understatement. I currently make it at least once a week. It is really simple and quick and keeps well throughout the week. I use the beans to make wraps to take to work for lunch, to eat with my eggs in the morning, or to use as a dip. The best part is when you are starving and out of time, if you have these beans in the fridge, you always have a meal. They are filling, healthy, and delicious.

April 30, 2014 by Sara 1 Comment

This Cinco de Mayo inspired recipe is a simple combination of two of our favorite recipes;  the black bean recipe from our taco bites, then the perfect brown rice. Black beans and rice is one of my  favorite things in the whole world. I grew up in Florida and was lucky enough to have had superior…
