Still looking for gift ideas for this holiday season? Here are some of our favorite books that would make wonderful gifts for the food lover in your life.
This is by far my favorite book of the year. Michael Pollan expertly dives into modern food culture by digging back into the past and exploring the history of cooking. For me this book was not only very informative and well written but went a long way toward reconciling some ideas I have been struggling with surrounding food, and bread in particular. I recommend it for both the real food novice and connoisseur alike! Michael Pollan has also written many other important and influential books on food including In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto, The Omnivore’s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals, Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual, and The Botany of Desire: A Plant’s-Eye View of the World.
Who doesn’t love wine right? Check out this book for everything the wine lover in your life needs and wants to know! This book is a little indulgent, but totally worth it. Any true wine lover would absolutely love this book.
Fellow food blog, The Nourished Kitchen released this book back in April of this year. It’s full of delicious recipes and includes more than 160 seasonally inspired traditional recipes.
I love this new Paleo cookbook. It is a result of the collaboration between Paleo food blogs The Civilized Caveman and PaleOMG. They have complied a book of easy to make Paleo recipes that any family can incorporate into their weekly routine. Tip: check out their burger recipe, it is to die for!
Someone gave me the first Niman Ranch book for Christmas back in 2008, and I love it. This one is even better! The Niman family are meat experts, this cookbook will educate you on different cuts, organic vs free range, along with tons of fabulous recipes. It’s the perfect gift for the foodie in your family.
This book is about bringing people to the table. While I can’t recommend all the recipes in Marietta’s book, as most don’t fall into our eating philosophy here at MCK, I do recommend the rest. I love the idea of getting together with friends and/or family once a month to talk about an engaging topic, eat great food and savor your time together.

This classic makes most must have cookbook lists for a reason. It is a true masterpiece and something every cook should own. Any cook would be happy to unwrap this book, and who knows maybe you will get to sample some of the dishes.
We love this clean eating cookbook by Tiffany McCauley. Tiffany is the great mind behind The Gracious Pantry, the clean eating blog where she shares her wonderful recipes. In her book she offers a wide array of wonderful recipes that can be stored in your freezer so that they are at your fingertips whenever you are ready to eat!

This book is a wonderful gift for anyone wishing to learn more about what they are eating and where it comes from. Mark Bittman has also written other important books including “How to Cook Everything” and How to Cook Everything Vegetarian.”
