Garlic Hummus

Breakfast: Whole Wheat Oatmeal Banana Pancakes

Lunch: Hummus with Pita and Carrot, Celery and Green Pepper Sticks

Snack: Trail Mix

Dinner: Turkey Burgers, Sweet Potato Fires

Lunch: Whole Wheat Caprese Pitas, Hummus with Carrot and Celery Sticks

Snack: Hard Boiled Eggs

Dinner: Slow Cooker Lemon Roast Chicken, Roast Balsamic Brussel Sprouts 

 

I don’t know about you but I love Hummus. It is one of those great foods that can be used in so many creative ways. It can be a tasty and healthy dip. A delicious sandwich spread. Its good on ships and vegetables alike. Here is our easy recipe for Garlic Hummus. Enjoy!

 Local Ingredient: Garlic (purchased from the local farmer’s market)

Garlic Hummus

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 15 minutes

Serving Size: 4

Ingredients

30 oz chickpeas (2 cans, drained and rinsed)

¼ cup tahini

4 cloves Garlic

1 teaspoon Sea Salt

1 teaspoon Fresh Cracked Black Pepper

½ cup Olive Oil

½ cup lemon juice (1 lemon)

2 tablespoons olive oil for garnish

Smoked Paprika for garnish

Instructions

  1. Add chickpeas, tahini, garlic cloves, salt and pepper to food processor or blender.
  2. Put on lid onto the processor or blender and turn it on. Gradually add the olive oil and then the lemon juice through the feed tube or hole in the lid.
  3. Blend until smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Put hummus into a serving dish, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle smoked paprika if using.
